Following the desire of our hearts to live closer to children and grandchildren meant closing the doors of our long time San Antonio based business, Steve Heflin Architect/Builder and moving to the Ft Worth area. We began dreaming, planning and praying for a business venture we could do together, one that would meld our talents in design, construction, decorating and hospitality.
Perhaps it was our 35 years of marriage and a bit of divine direction that sparked the idea of creating a wedding/event venue with unique style and beauty. Searching the Ft. Worth countryside led us to a 21 acre farm just outside Historic Weatherford, Tx. This estate encompasses a 115 year old Farm House, Guest House, beautiful trees, natural springs and pasture land.
Pouring the same expertise and attention to detail Steve used in designing beautiful custom homes, we began collecting architectural elements such as 300+ year old doors, gables, mirrors, tables, rustic wagons, gates, and benches from Texas and Santa Fe to be used in both a Country Chapel and Event Center.
And so, the adventure begins! Land purchased, move made, plans drawn, the road in, construction started… one step at a time, this new place called The Brooks at Weatherford becomes reality.
As we relish being close to our kids and grandkids, we are reminded and assured that marriage is worth the staying and definitely worth the celebrating! It is our hope to create not only a beautiful place for celebrations in a beautiful setting, but a place people just love to be.
